About the Event
Join us for a night of learning and development with likeminded people. This event is designed to help local investors learn how to invest in high-growth Australian businesses at early stage. Investors will also learn about the due diligence process, average investment ticket, mechanisms available and what options will best fit their investment capability, risk and interests.
The night will be presented by our Managing Director, Matt Steine and he will be joined by a highly skilled panel of guest speakers discussing topics on Equity Crowdfunding, Angel Investment and Investment Funds. The audience will have the opportunity to network with fellow investors and discuss further with guest speakers.

Matt is the Co-Founder of Birchal, Australia's leading equity crowdfunding platform. Matt is an experienced financial services lawyer and entrepreneur having worked in private practice at a top tier law firm and founded several successful businesses. A recognised expert in the regulation of financial services, and crowdfunding, Matt is a regular media commentator and contributes to scholarly journals and industry consultations.Matt will connect with us from Melbourne to talk about equity crowdfunding and how this system can help local businesses to scale up faster.
- Angel Investment with Donna Patane, Co-Founder of FNQ Angels
Donna is a trademarks attorney and lawyer specialising in business law and intellectual property as well as a Commercialisation Facilitator for the Federal Entrepreneurs Programme. She has over 15 years of private practice experience and is heavily involved in the local innovation ecosystem as an advisor, mentor, presenter, facilitator and co-founder of FNQ Angels Inc. Donna will tell us all about business angel investment and her experience at FNQ Angels, based in Cairns Far North Queensland.
- Investing in high-growth businesses with Brad Stewart, Founder of Evolution Financial
Brad has been a qualified financial planner since 1999 working for Hillross Financial Services, he's worked at WHK/Crowe Horwath in charge of the North Queensland Financial Planning division, before setting up his own business in 2014. Brad has spent time on both a National Investment Committee board and a National Risk Insurance Committee board and been a part of North Queensland’s Emerging Leaders Program. He currently holds a board position on Codebots, the 2018 Qld Start Up of the Year, and manages over $200mil of client's investment monies under his direct advice. Brad will tell us all about his experience investing in high-growth businesses in North Queensland, such as EcoFibre and raising funding for other companies along with some important recommendations that every investor should consider.
